  1. MF HASSEN says:

While I do not begrudge any profit taking agent to make profit as a haj operator, my personal preference is that haj should never be a profit making sacred institute. To me its almost akin to profiteer from Allah,s command or place copy right over Allah,s intellectual property. Just a thought!

  2. imraan says:

hats off to them for makin it possible n affordable for the masses. pity only accredited for 100ppl

  3. naeem.co.za says:

Personally – If you can afford the more expensive packages then go for that and leave this one to someone who is having a hard time meeting ends to go for Hajj.

However, on the same note – this does not give the other agents & flight centres the right to artificially inflate prices and airfares.

Yes, make a profit by all means but a reasonable one, understand that this is a fardh & core pillar of Imaan – making it out of reach for the masses is borderline criminal & one will be answerable for this either in this world or most definately in the hereafter.

  4. khalid says:

    assalaamu alaikum ya ikhwah

there’s no mention of ticket prices though…or did i miss that?

  5. naeem.co.za says:

Slms Khalid – nice to see you here :)

Air ticket prices arent available anywhere – only be made closer to the hajj dates – i’v been told to budget from 10 to 14k for a ticket (yes that much)

  6. saleem says:

AFFORDABLE HAJ — REALLY IM A AVID FOLLOWER OF THE HAJ AND SERVIECES TO HAJEES — I BEG TO DIFFER THIS PACKAGE IS TRULY EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT IS ON OFFER IVE SEEN MUCH CHEAPER PACKAGES IN THE MARKET AND WITH REPUTED AGENTS AS WELL – DO U MAKE SENSE MOVING THE HAJEE WHO INNOCENTLY DOES NOT KNOW THE MOST EXPENSIVE AND BEST DAYS TO STAY FORTH IN MAKKAH IS EVEN TO THE 1ST ZIL HAJ — PLEASE HAJEES LOOK AND STUDY BEFORE U BELIEVE IN THE WORDS –THIS PACKAGE MORE EXPENSIVE THEN AT LEAST 4 PACKAGES OF AGENTS IN THE MARKET

  7. imraan says:

saleem why not put the names n prices down so the ppl may benefit. and remember that other agents are profit based. i heard that these guys came in dirt cheap coz they accomodated for 300 hajis, but sanha only allocated 100 so they had to adjust pricing. and Allah knows best

  8. Abdoeragmaan says:

saleem are you talking south african curency. or pounds.

  9. Slmz,
I STRONGLY suggest you go with an agent who will guide you through the whole trip.

This trip will cost about R34 000 per person, without special services and these hotels are not too close to the harems. Do not look at ‘km’ as there are SO many people there, that you practically walk like a penguin.

Moving to Azizia on 25th is good. It get VERY lathargic in Makkah after that.

Search properly, as people like Flywell and Fazila Malek will put you in hotels practically 2 minutes into the Harem, and that counts for ALOT. If their packages is R10 000 more (R45 000), and it is a 5 star Hajj, then i STRONGLY suggest you take out more from your savings and pay that. You get ALOT more advantages, such as you are MUCH CLOSER when pelting. You are in , pelt and out. 2 mins into the Harem, you get seats INSIDE the masjid, and not outside (as you get to the mosque very slowly with the number of people moving in)

Personally, people can say as much as they want that the Hajj packages are expensive and agents are making more profit. I’ve experienced it and I assure you that the headache and pain the agents go through, even for super profits i will never do their job. it is NOT easy… Lastly, EVERYTHING in Saudi quadruples in price. It is not the agents fault. I assure you. A std Pizza hut Pizza costs R70, and KFC R50. If you’re not staying at a hotel near the harem (thats where you will find the non-street food), then you WILL STRUGGLE to find decent clean food which will agree with our ‘South African’ system (not causing Diarrhoea).

Finally, prepare for the most busiest trip of your life EVER! It is NOT a holiday. Get accustomed to 4 hours sleep a day, and learn some urdu or arabic, especially the numbers.

InshAllah, may Allah accept your dua to perform Hajj. It is an experience I will NEVER forget, and a very spiritually uplifting experience which will change your view of the world. Simply ensure you engage in Zikr all trip long and STAY AWAY from friends and talking worldy things. Shaytaan works very aggressively on you during these 5 days. You will find yourself wanting to do things you would in normal circumstances never think of doing…

  10. Asalamualikum

At least with a low cost Haj Operator we have seen the prices reduce drastically. Let us pray that HAj prices will come down across the board so that the concept of “Haj is for the Rich” be dispelled and that the poorer members of our community experience this once in a lifetime opportunity at the expense of the “frequent flyers”.

  11. Aaliya says:

    Asalaamualaikum.
I’d just like to applaude these men and women who have taken the time and made the effort to take these hajji’s on their journey, hajj truely is a life changing experience. Some people cannot afford the additional R10 000 you speak of and further more even if you do go with reputable agents you are not guaranteed a “better”hajj. Allah could make these hajji’s hajj better than anyone elses if He so desires and inshaallah ameen he will.

  12. Kader says:

The prices are not cheap after the air fares are added they are about the same as the agents.
Can anyone explain why its cheaper to fly to China or London than to Makkah or Medina,When they are closer?
The people are being ripped off.My wife and I perfformed hajj in 2000 with out any “operators”
the total cost including all meals accomodation asnd flights for both of us was R38k.The rate of exchange at the time US$1 = R11.50?This was living at the newly built Hilton in Medina and at Al Aziz plaza in Makkah.

  13. Muhammed says:

Slms! Having just returned from Haj, I am able to give you an update on KHIDMATUL AWAAM. My view has no bias as I did NOT go with this group.

Every Khidmatul Awaam Haji that I have met cannot stop singing the praises of this organisation! Many others are regretting their lack of confidence in KA at the outset, as KA has proven to all that a COMFORTABLE Haj can be performed at low prices.

To make you understand how these guys have shone over others…..In Arafat, some Hajis from different groups were making DUA individually for KHIDMATUL AWAAM! This in itself is an achievement! To earn the DUAS of people you dont even know, at ARAFAT!

Well done TO KA! May Allah Ta’ala make you rise further, maintaining, if not surpassing the high standards you have set for yourselves! May Allah Ta’ala keep you sincere, as I believe that it was your sincerity that brought about your achievement!

    Muhammed

  14. Muhammed (LENZ SOUTH) says:

    Assalamualykum,

My family and I have just returned from Haj as well and Alhamdulillah, we decided to go with Khidmatul Awwam.
Alhamdulillah our trip from the time we left OR Tambo right until we got back was a pleasant and wonderful experience. The guys at KA really went out of their way to ensure a comfortable, non-profit Haj for the group. We were promised very little before we left, but on arrival, shukr we received much more than we were promised.
The package did not include meals, but Alhamdulillah, every day we were served lunch and snacks after Esha. People were actually sponsoring meals for the group of 180 people.
Inshallah Allah SWT keeps KA’s intention sincere so that many more people can benefit from the services that KA offers. Ameen.

A special Jazakallah to Brother Mems Moosa for the effort and many long sleepless hours that was made in order to ensure a worry free and comfortable Haj for our group. May Allah SWT reward you in full for the Khidmat that you have made for the Haajis, and may HE SWT continue using you for this outstanding work. Ameen.

  15. zurena moose says:

please sent more information about your non profit hajj organisation inshallah

  16. Khidamatul Islam’s website address is http://www.kasa.org.za

please leave all comments on this web-site as we are will during the course of our meetings read and consider all proposals/comments.

We are pleased that this year we have managed to receive such a wonderful response from the public and make dua that we will continue to improve our service to the public at the non-profit prices that we set out to achieve.

there are a few more reasons why I hope this year will be cheaper or at least not more expensive:-

    1. we have invested monies in bedding/beds/furniture which now belongs to us and we can re-use these assets next year.

    2. we have shown the hoteliers that we are professional and that we can develop a long-standing relationship with them and even try to secure cheaper prices with them;

    3. we have “learnt” how to negotiate with the airlines, hoteliers, service suppliers and can save certain costs this year;

    4. we can be more prepared by starting early not fighting with the regulator, but rather working with them to ensure that we get off the mark early this year to take advantage of cheaper prices this year.

    5. We will secure more volunteers/ sponsors/ who will at their own cost provide services for us, InshaAllah.

Please realise that it is not our intention to erode the market-players. They too have established themselves and they too have clients who don’t mind paying for the exceptional service that they enjoy in the Haramain. We are unable to provide those types of services. Our services are budgeted to those 1st time Hajees who who otherwise not be able to afford to go for Haj.

We too have secured sponsorships from individuals who wish to see mainstream Muslims perform their rites and obligations. thus, bringing down the costs involved in this business.

WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK OUR HUJJAJ,OUR SPONSORS OUR FRIENDS AND WELL-WISHES FOR THEIR DUAS AND SUPPORT AND HOPE THAT 2009 WILL BE A BETTER YEAR FOR ALL.

    SALAMS

Please make dua for the continued success of your organisation.

  17. MOHAMMED SADEQ KHAN says:

THE PRICES OF HAJ TODAY ARE OUT OF BOUNDS TO A LAY MAN WHO WOULD LOVE TO MAKE HAJ. ALLAAH TA’ALA HAS CHOSEN YOU PEOPLE TO MAKE IT EASY FOR THE HAJIS. PUT IT INTO
ACTION AND YOU WILL SEE THE HELP OF ALLAH WILL POUR ON YOU PEOPLE. MAY ALLAH TA’ALA UNITE THE UMAAH TO FIGHT THE EXORBITANT PRICE STRUCTURE FROM OUR AGENTS
    SHUKARAN

  18. MAKHTUM says:

I went for hajj last year and wa really impressed by khidmatul awwam, although i did not go with the group, they had better services then my group and i paid around R20 000 more. Indeed Allahs blessing was on this group.

  19. Ruwayda says:

Does anyone know how much the flight costs are?
we intend going with KA Insha Allah but needs to pay for the flights seperately.

  20. Ayesha says:

My husband and I are intending to go with KA this year inshallah. We have heard only positive things about this organization. Where ones intentions are correct, only good can come of it. Inshallah Almighty makes it easy for us and most importantly ACCEPT our haj and the effrot made by all to ensure its a success!

  21. Ayesha says:

Ruwayda, I was quoted anything from 9-12K. They unsure as they are still negotiating and awaiting confirmation from the airlines.

  22. Sharief says:

I really do not know how to start my comment accept by saying ” why do you want to move away from the Haram” My experience is that i would do anything to stay within walking distance of the Kaba. Then do the people really know what it entails travelling in and out from Azizia when Makka is fullest? It’s a nightmare! What gets to me, is people trying to sell these Azizia packages but not explaining to the Hajees the pro and cons. Yes its a bit cheaper (And it can be much much cheaper), yes there is shuttles, but the feeling of being Makka compared to the feeling of being in Azizia is a day and night difference. You don’t have that freedom of movement, i.e. when you in the Haram and you not feeling well you can go to your room and come back later (when staying in Makka), when you in Azizia its not that easy. Oh and then there is the traffic in and out of Azizia…..Imagine thousands of people travelling in and out every hour of the day. But more than all of this I really wish all Hujjaj well and may the almighty give them the strength and health to have a wonderful and successful pilgrimage. (I kinda envy them but in a good way). Make the most of your trip it’s the most amazing experience. To all our operators I wish that you go from strength to strength and in doing so assist our hujjajs in the best possible manner.

  23. FAROUK ABBAS says:

Salaam. Algamdoelillah, Your affordable Hadj package is most welcomed. I also understand that your Group for hadj has grown significantly – I am happy for you. Allow me to share my working experience on hadj with you. Having the numbers is one thing, the execution of moving your hujajj to Azizia and during the days of hadj when it matters most is critical – as is the journey from Arafat to Minah and then back to the Haram. This is where your operations will be judged, because every year you experience a different hadj, so you need to have experience, your wit’s with you and think on feet.
May Almighty Allah guide you throughout this journey.

  24. shadley says:

Salaams firstly, last year i performed hajj with Al-Anwar hajj & umrah and had an amazing journey. the services that were promised to us was delivered ten fold. Hajj is not easy, lets make that clear, being close to Jamaraats on five days of hajj was so important because many of the old and sickly could not walk those far distances the groups who didnt have additional services had to walk. Also if you add ur airticket, plus food it comes to more or less the same, where as we had a buffet breakfast and dinner daily included in our package. im not shooting anyone down, im just saying that a hajj package isnt just about the price, its about so many other things service, reliabilty, value for money, comfort so you the hajji can focus on whats ultimatly important, your ibadah.

  25. Famidha Ismail says:

    As salaammu alakium.

My query is, i would like to know if there are any organisations that actually sponsor Haj. My parents cannot afford to go for haj and neither am i in financial position to assist them. My mum has Brest cancer and she is unemployed, my father at home with my mom is also unemployed. The only financial assistance they receive is from us their children, however my question is, is there anybody out there that can sponsor them for haj, or any organisations that sponsor haj. As per above mail, Haj is not affordable to all in SA as yet, the prices are still quite high, and climbing every year. Cont no:0842076060

  26. ebi says:

i would like to know howcome they advertised their package this year stating the pilgrims will stay at the newly built al ghoraibh apartments and now it has been changed to the azizia building. all this after people have booked and without informing them?????

  27. saadiqa says:

I think what Khidmautul Awaam is doing is great! However, I think it would be nice if they could offer gujaaj full stay Makkah packages as well. This way their gujaaj will be able to choose their option and at the same time, they will create competition, forcing the other operators to lower their full stay Makkah packages.

  28. umm ebrahim says:

    ASSALAAMUALAIKUM.

I am on hajj with KASA. The building advertised as the Azizia building is actually Al Ghoraib apartment and is newly built, Alhamdulillah. KASA has exceeded our expectations. I would advise all potential hujjaj who cannot afford hajj to consider KASA as the only choice.

  29. Marwaan says:

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah hi wabarakatu wa maghfirah

When I heard about KD I thought o no not another operator . But after I read that you were a non profit organisation I thought well done that is just what we need. I have read all the comments made by different Gudjaj Alghamdulilah it is good to hear good references for a change. May Allah guide you from strength to strength inshaAllah.

    Shukran

  30. Ayesha says:

    Salaamz
Alhumd my husband and I have just returned from hajj 2009 with Khidmatul Awaam. We had an absolutely amazing experience from the start right to the very end! I must take my hat off for Khidmatul Awaam as they had done a splendid job!! They had most definately gone out of their way to look after the hujaaj- infact they have over-delivered on their service! Furthermore, the spriritual guidance we received added much value to whole experience. They really do make Hajj an affordable reality and at the same time they make it an experience of a lifetime. May Almighty taccept our Hajj and ake this organisation from strength to strength, accept each and everyones effort and grant them every success in the future inshallah.

  31. Ebrahim says:

Khidmatul Awaam – for the second year has proof that it is possible to take ppl on hajj at an affordable price.
May Allah (SWT) continue to guide and protect them Insha Allah

  32. Ummeishaq says:

    As-salaam-u-alaikum

Alhumdulillah, we have just returned from performing hajj, and also with Khidmatul Awwaam. I would like to state that the excellent service we received from KA exceeded our expectations and we would like to thank the members of KA for all the hard work they put in and make dua that the organisation grows from strength to strength and continues serving the hujjaj.

  33. Younus says:

    Salaams,

My wife and I went with Kidmatul Awaam for haj in 2009 and we had an experience of a lifetime. Kidmatul Awaam went out of their way to make our journey as pleasant and comfortable as possible. We were given alot of extras which were not part of the package. Jazakaalh Khair for all the extras. May Allah make you the leading Haj operator in South Africa and reward all the members and volunteers of Kidmatul Awaam. Keep up the excellent work and service.

I would definitely recommend Kidmatul Awaam to anyone who wants to go for haj.

  34. Munira says:

    Slmz

Haj is one of the five pillars of Islam and people tend to make the packages extremely unafordable.

Many people collect money for years, but come “next year” and the price is put up.

Make your profit but don’t make it unafordable, do it for the pleasure of ALLAH and you will also be rewarded INSHALLAH !
