The Advanced-learner Oxford dictionary defines the term “Allah” as the Arabic name of God. The fact is that : “Allah” is the name of God in Aramaic, the language of the Christian scripture. The name of God does not vary among Judaism, Christianity, and Islam but is subject to the conjugation in the Semitic languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Arabic. Ismail when pronounced like in Israel is a Hebrew sentence that means, “May God hears (prayers)”. Halleluiah is an Aramaic sentence, “Hala le Allah”, that translate to: “Praise be to God” and corresponds to the Arabic: “Alhmdu le Allah” . Scholars say both Judaism and Christianity form the bed rock of Islam. The Qa’aba was built in the middle of the desert with God help, by prophet Ibrahim and his son Ismail (peace be upon them). Amazingly, few people in Syria kept their mother tongue, Aramaic for 3000 years, but some feel it may be in verge of extinction. Other Christian Semites whose tongue is Arabic share the Islamic name Abdallah with Arabs, (Abdulla, Abdiallah are other linguistic conjugates). It is mentioned in the Qur’an (Sura Mari am) that Jesus (peace be upon him) in his cradle made the implied assertion: I am Abdu Allah, meaning: I am servant of God.
